The Gulf of Maine hosts a variety of large game fish in
the summer months. The largest being the bluefin tuna. Bluefin tuna
range in size from 100 to 1000+ pounds. The bluefin tuna is one of the
fastest, strongest and most resilient of all salt water species. These
magnificent fish are capable of swimming 50 mph. When you hook up with a
bluefin, hold on! The season opens in early June. In the early
season, we begin trolling with squid spreader bars, daisy chains or other
"secret" techniques. Later in the season we begin live lining at anchor
or adrift as the tuna make there way to the ledges to begin their feeding
routine. Bluefin tuna that fail to meet the commercial size limits may be
kept by the party or tagged and released to be caught another day. * See
